Massaponax Church was established in 1788. In 1888 the church celebrated it's one hundred year birthday, which was advertised in the local "Our Churches" bulletin.&#160; On September 30,1888, the church was filled to overflowing. Seven Baptist ministers were present. An arbor was constructed in the yard to hold services for the children.
